What you will do

Enjoy an authentic farming experience among the olive groves of the Matese area, between Faicchio and San Potito Sannitico, in the province of Benevento, and discover traditional olive harvesting alongside local producers. Spend a day outdoors at the foot of the Matese mountains, surrounded by nature, traditional rural flavours and a welcoming atmosphere. An ideal experience for families, couples and groups of friends.

 

Your day will begin with a breakfast of coffee and homemade tart before heading into the olive groves. After an introduction to the area's olive-growing traditions, you will take part in the olive harvest, working alongside local producers through the different stages of the process. Learn how to spread harvesting nets, pick olives by hand and with mechanical olive harvesters, remove twigs and leaves, and place the olives into crates.

 

Throughout the activities, the producers will share stories and interesting facts about the farm's history, harvesting techniques and the main stages of extra virgin olive oil production.

 

You will also enjoy a tasting of freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, served with traditional Matese rye bread, made from cereals grown directly on the farm.

After the harvest, relax in the peaceful countryside and admire the rural landscape between Faicchio and San Potito Sannitico before gathering around a large outdoor table for a traditional farmhouse lunch among the olive trees, prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Discover the flavours of local cuisine and the value of regional agricultural products, from flour and legumes to seasonal vegetables and homemade specialities.

 

In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the farm shop and purchase local products.

 

At the end of the experience, each adult participant will receive a complimentary 500 ml bottle of olive oil, a special souvenir of your day in the Matese area.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The experience takes place every Sunday in October and November, with a minimum of 10 participants.
  • The entire experience takes place in the countryside, among the olive groves of the Matese area, including the traditional farmhouse lunch.
  • The olive harvest takes place in the groves of Azienda Agricola Fragola, between Faicchio and San Potito Sannitico (Benevento). The specific grove is selected according to the progress of the harvest, and the exact location will be communicated before the experience.
  • Free parking and portable toilets are available.
  • Any allergies, food intolerances or requests for vegetarian or vegan meals must be communicated when booking.

Groups can also arrange the olive harvest on days other than Sunday, with the option of a pizza-based lunch featuring a selection of freshly prepared pizzas.
